2 years ago Black’s Barre was just an idea scribbled on a post it note stuck to my computer in the PE staffroom, now its my reality and I love it!!

Dance has been a part of my life since I was 3 years old and I can't imagine what life would be like without it. I've lived, worked, and breathed dance as a professional dancer, teacher and choreographer as well as enjoying it as my hobby and feel extremely fortunate to continue to do so. It’s been an epic journey to get to this point but I can honestly say that through all of the ups and downs one vision has remained absolutely clear. my need to pass on the absolute joy I feel every time I move to all those attending my classes.

The health benefits of dance and movement are undisputed and as my career has progressed I've become a huge advocate for them, for everyone not just for dancers. Not only have I experienced the benefits both physically and mentally first hand I also get the absolute pleasure of witnessing the impact that dance and movement has on the people that I am lucky to work with on a daily basis. A huge part of my work as a dance practitioner is to help both my dance students and those that attend my open classes to physically develop in strength, stamina, fitness and flexibility and as much as this is an amazing journey to be a part of I find it far more inspiring when I get the chance to witness somebody else’s sense of joy from movement, the moment inhibitions disappear and a client or student moves from the heart and discovers a connection with a movement, a breath or a piece of music, the moment they’ve left what’s bothering them outside the studio door and are truly in the present, the moment they feel empowered to dance as if they don't have a care in the world and absolutely love the moment they leave the studio sweaty and worked but so much lighter than when they came in.

You don’t have to be a professional dancer to ‘lose yourself in dance,’ just turn up and give it a go.

Each Studio will vary however most contain the following -

  • Mirrors

  • Sprung floors

  • Ballet Barre's

  • PA System with Jack lead

  • Yoga Mats

  • Light weights

  • Kettle bells

  • Kenton Sport, corde Lisse, Trapeze, Silks and Aerial Hoop

  • WC facilities

  • Free parking, Linskill, Startastic and City Centre after 5pm.
